Apis had a rough day today. Her IV painkiller was switched to oral so she had lots of issues finding the right amount of pain medication and fighting intense nausea. The new (Oxycodon) medicine makes her throw up suddenly (just like during her first stay at RCH and at home).
In addition, her left tube incision is not looking great and could be the source of the elevated blood count (if there is an infection). So, it was cleaned and re-wrapped. As a precaution she continues with more rounds of antibiotics which help in many ways but also upset her stomach. Let's hope we get her pain under control and that she has a decent sleep.
They will be trying hydromorphine later to help with any stomach and nausea complications.
I suppose ups and downs are to be expected, though it's not fun to hear about rough days. Sending lots of encouragement and love. It's always a little difficult going to an oral pain medication, with the nausea and all that. I'd suggest REAL ginger ale, but I doubt that's part of the allowed things at this point.

Dear Apis: I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling nauseous. Hopefully, it will pass soon and you can get on with your most remarkable recovery. Your sense of humour will sustain you, as always! Are you able to take an anti-nausea medication with your pain medication? I know that sometimes they administer Gravol with some of the pain meds.

FINALLY I was able to borrow Dad's laptop to check in on you. And this is I suppose not to be utterly surprised about, but it still is not fun to hear about. I hope that by now the antibiotics are doing their job and the painkillers have been adjusted.

Keep those spirits up! Dealing with pain and nausea is surely no picnic, but you're a tough cookie and with your determination, it's nothing you're not equipped to handle... In the end, you will win the day! Strength!
ReplyDeleteIn other news, it's been warming up these last couple of days in Poco. We're still expecting some colder, damper weather, starting again tomorrow, but by the time you get back here, it should be about right. By then, the best of our Summer weather should be hitting its stride. (I note also, that you will have also have managed to neatly avoid the allergy season that has been heralded by all the cottonwood fluff drifting through the air here!)

Three days from today it will be my 2 year anniversary from my MOAS, due to my appendix cancer diagnosis. I also had a hard time when they switch my iv painkillers to the Oxycodon, the recovery was very slow but thank God I endured. All I can tell you is to hang in there. All my checkups afterwards have been good. I will keep you in my prayers. God bless you.
